Chapter 2: The Village

"Three years have passed since I first met gruffen, Maia, and the three hatchling dragons. From that time I have learned all of three things from them. One, Never Venture into another dragon's territory. Two, Never hunt or hurt the young of another animal. Three, stay clear of humans. I am now fifteen years of age and The hatchlings have grown immensly during those years. My name is Shadrel, I don't know my last name, if I even had one in the first place.  I am five foot seven in height and have short, curly, brown hair. I have steel-blue eyes and I have been practicing with the dagger durring the years with the dragons, though its all I know how to use now. Oh yeah, and I am human. This is where the next chapter of my story begins."

Shadrel was running through the dense forest. The snow had long since melted from the ground, which was now lush with grass. In the distance a something sprinted past a group of trees. Shadrel huffed as he ran, dodging tree after tree. He soon came across a small clearing. He stopped to search for another path. Just as he found one, he was knocked to the ground with imense force by the persuer. Shadrel layed there for a moment, the creature on top of his chest, then began to laugh. "Kasha, You got me, now get off, I can't breathe!" The wite furred dragon backed up a few steps, letting him up. She had a grin on her face. Shadrel got up, brushed the leaves off his tunic, which he made himself, and looked at her. Kasha turned to where they came, a big grin on her face. Just as she took a few steps away, Shadrel pounced onto her back. The fell to the ground in a wrestle. In the end Shadrel wound up on top. "ha! now its one to one!" Kasha pushed him off with her for legs and got to her feet. she was about as tall as shadrel in height, and a bit more in length as he was tall. "Fine, fine, I'm beat, lets get back to the others." Kasha said. She strolled down the leafy path, shadrel following.

Shadrel and kasha made it back to the Den to find Krien and Traen, Brothers to Kasha. They all were white, but there were certain markings that told them apart. Krien has grey stripes of fur on his snout and tail. Traen had a plack stripe along his back and wings. Kasha had a dark grey stripe pattern along her belly. They also had different eye colors. Kasha's were a deep green, traen's were sky-blue, while Krien had Brown eyes. They all were about the same size, but there was about a few inches difference between them. "Shadrel! You going to join us on a hunt? Gruffen's ganna take us to hunt some deer." Krien said, excited. Shadrel nodded, "Need to get my dagger so I can be of use then." he said as he walked into the cavern.

After rummaging through his stash of items in the back, a set of clothes and tooles, he found his dagger. It was a simple dagger made of rock with a wooden handle tied onto it. Shadrel tucked into his pants and walked back outside. By this time Gruffen and Maia came back. Maia had just ate, while Gruffen was still waiting for Shadrel and the others. "Morning. Its time for to go hunting. Follow me." Gruffen said, then took off into the air. Kasha and Traen followed. Krien grabbed Shadrel by the shoulders with his fore-claws, lifting him into the air. A second later, he held onto Shadrel's feet with his Hind claws. With this position there wouldn't be much difference in the air resistance. Soon the five were gliding high in the air, Shadrel had long since lost his fear over this, but was still a little tense. He looked below to see the endless forest. A half hour passed and a herd of deer were soon spotted. Spiraling down, but at a safe distance so not to alert the deer. Krien let go of Shadrel's feet first, then lowered him to the ground, where he then let go of his shoulders. Shadrel rolled to break his fall. He hid behind a tree and looked for the deer. He saw two bucks, a doe, and a fawn. He saw Traen a few feet away from him, eyeing the buck. Kasha was further down the circle, Traen to the right of shadrel. There was no place for the deer to go. The eyed the bucks, and ignored the doe and fawn. The two bucks would fill all four of them, and Gruffen had other plans for hunting. Shadrel and the others quietly walked forward, shrinking the circle. several minutes passed as they sliently walked closer, the deer unknowing. Suddenly, Krien struck first. He was the closest and pounced on the buck closest to him. The rest fled right towards kasha and Shadrel. Shadrel took down one buck as Kasha blocked the other one. It turned and ran... right towards Traen. Traen pounced the buck just as it passed, knocking it to the ground. A well planned hunt. They began to eat their kill, Trean cooking shadrel's share with his dragon fire.

After they were well fed, shadrel stretched. "Hey Krien, lets go exploring." Shadrel said. Krien looked at Gruffen, who nodded. Krien and Shadrel walked down a patth through the woods. They walked for a good two hours when Krien heard something in the distance. Shadrel could hear it as well. "What is that?" Shadrel asked. "I'm not sure, lets go check it out." Krien replied, taking the lead. Shadrel followed at a quick pace. The walked toward the noise, which grew louder and louder. Eventually they stopped to hide behind some trees an bushes. What they saw was shocking. Krien never saw one before, but Shadrel has, he grew up in one. What they found was a busy human Village. "We shouldn't be here." Krien said. Shadrel looked at him, "I can go into the village. I'm human, I can blend in. You can stay hidden. If anything happens i'll leave the village right away." Krien paused for a long moment, then replied with an "Okay. But don't make it too long." Shadrel nodded, and walked into the village. He kept to the shadows, so people wouldnt know he just came from the woods. When he reached a busier place, he attempted to walk into the open. He paused for a moment, but no one even glanced at him twice. Sighing with releaf, he explored the village. He came to a part of the village that wasn't as busy. He walked the corner and stopped. In the open, talking to a fruit merchant was a girl. She looked about in her teens. She had long black hair and Green eyes. She seemed to have been the same height as shadrel, more or less. She had a blue dress on and a straw hat. Shadrel swallowed and walked toward her.
